Music Sites I Use

One of the first websites I found when getting into the ukulele was Chordie. It houses a pretty extensive catalog of music formatted in either tablature [tabs for short] or chord form. I prefer reading chords as I use the ukulele for accompaniment rather than melody. Chordie is nice because it gives you the option of transposing between keys and offers you a choice between tuning [which instrument chord charts are displayed]. You can also choose to have the song displayed in four different ways: Normal, Lyrics Only, Chords Only or Full Screen.

Another wonderful feature I use on the site is their songbook option. For registered users [it's free to sign up] you can add the songs you like to play to your own songbook and it will keep the song in the key and tuning you choose at the time of saving. You may have multiple books but the limit for each is 100 songs.

Ultimate Guitar is similar to Chordie in that you are offered transposing and chord diagrams. Songs in tablature and chord formats are offered as well. One really cool feature on Ultimate Guitar is the automatic scrolling option. You can choose to have the page automatically scroll as you play to keep from having to manually move the screen down, which is no fun to do in the middle of a song. You can also control the speed of scrolling.

Songbooks aren't offered which is a big reason I stick with Chordie. I like to be able to go the site, click on my songbooks and choose a song rather than search for each title and then figure out which key it was transposed in order to fit my vocal range. I am aware that I could bookmark each page into a folder on my computer, but I'd rather not. I like having the songs saved on the website I'm visiting.

Another site I use somewhat frequently is AZ Chords. While a little ad-heavy, this site is good for basic chords and tabs. You are not offered the option of changing keys or shown any chord charts, but this does in a pinch when I'm looking to play a song and I can't find the chords I need on Chordie.
